Facade Repairs Program.

M+S was hired to design and oversee the facade repair program at Cabrini Boulevard - a six-story residential building in the Hudson Heights neighborhood in Manhattan. The building features masonry construction and terracotta juliette balconies on its street facades, a few of which presented significant cracks and shifting during our hands-on inspection. During demolition, significant damage to the underlying structure was found.

M+S worked closely with the General Contractor, manufacturer and Structural Engineer in cataloguing, designing, fabrication and installation of an exact replica of juliette balconies that were classified as Unsafe. Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) was used as an alternative to Terracotta in the design of brackets, balusters, copings and floor units. M+S monitored the GFRC fabrication process in the shop and installation of each unit in the site.
